We are a group of women, who together support philanthropic services for our community.
Our main objectives is to help the graduating seniors of our community with scholarships for their goals of higher learning and personal development. Recently we have implemented an "adult scholarship" for women returning to school and a "community scholarship" for students with special talents or have shown outstanding determination to improve their education..
We also support other various community organizations, groups and individuals. We support teachers, the library, museum, foster care, senior center and individuals with special needs in respresenting the community of Fillmore, to
name a few.
Over the years we have done numerous and varied activities: from dances, auctions, dinners, the fish booth at the Fillmore May Festival. One of our original fundraisers was the diaper derby. Currently our members are committed to the 4th of July Fireworks Booth every year. Currently with the funds from this one project we are able to support our scholarships and donations for the community.
We are a family friendly organization, realizing that "family comes first" with our members. We do not penalize any member for missed meetings and members are supportive of one another when someone in their family is sick or has a crises. Each member is part of our extended family. Our dues are $15 yearly which goes to our general fund for operatiing expenses.
We are an easy, supportive group of women who also enjoy monthly social gatherings. We are dark in July and August, have our installation dinner for new officers in May, and our Christmas party in December, we only have eight regular meetings. We also have a "membership drive", and "thank you for helping in the fireworks booth" barbeque yearly, inviting our singificant others and people from the community. Our community supporters and husbands area valuable asset to our club and we are always thankful for their support.
Our driving force is a commitment to our youth and our desire to recognize and support them; and their future, which is our future,
our community and our world's future.
Come and enjoy the experience of the Fillmore Women;s Service Club.
